I am now the full-time Web Developer and Content Mgr for Pacific Northwest Golf Association / Washington State Golf Association. Check back here for more news on those big new projects! And even though I’m now done with school, as all web developers know, the learning NEVER STOPS (because technology never stops)… so keep coming back to see continuing ideas and observations from me on all things web dev.
The cool thing is, on my last full-time job, I got in trouble for surfing the net all the time for stuff I like (i.e. web dev stuff). Now I get paid to do it!
Sorry to all who may have tried to look at my site today… it was down for a while as I switched servers.
If you tried to email me and didn’t get a reply or it bounced back, please try again!
I’m a big fan of QR Codes as an online marketing tool…
Perhaps not to this extent, though…

I’ve been doing a ton of work to my portfolio site as I finish up at Seattle Central, including adding code samples to my Websites page… check ‘em out!
More to come soon…

Chocolati’s Chocolate-Dipped, Custom Fortune Cookies are great for your next celebration or business event… makes a perfect novelty party favor or promotional giveaway!
Whether you place your order online here, by phone, or in person at our Seattle factory, your cookies are baked fresh and hand-dipped in our gourmet milk, white or dark chocolate. Your personalized fortunes (up to 6 messages at 40 characters each) or logos are custom-printed, and your order is delivered in bulk in individually-wrapped packages or in clear Chinese takeout gift boxes.
Terrific for fundraisers, baby showers, wedding receptions, trade shows, conferences, graduations, anniversaries or any other occasion!
So for those who don’t know, I’m currently enrolled at Seattle Central Community College in their (increasingly renowned) web development program. Well, I got my grades back for Summer quarter (all 4.0’s!), and I now have the first spoils from my new edjumucation…
First, I completely recoded two previous sites, Coastal Cafe and The Grub Hut, getting rid of all that nasty code (nested tables) in favor of clean divs, php includes, and external style sheets. I also added some cool stuff that I’m just now getting comfortable with, such as JQuery sliders on the home pages and Lightbox image enlarging.
The big news, though, is that I finished a large e-commerce site for Seattle chocolate company Chocolati, which uses the behemoth (to me, anyway) X-Cart Shopping Cart software. This one is actually not 100% done yet… I’m still working on improvements to site usability, browser compatibility, and SEO. But I think it’s ready to show.
Check all this stuff out… there will certainly be much more to come soon!
Added a magazine ad design to the Graphic Design section for furniture company A.W. Hoss & Son. Will be doing some website work for them soon, too…
Added some design concepts to the Websites section (contract work for The OGDEN Group.net).
Take a look around, stay a while…
All CSS here, no more tables for this guy.
Most likely it’ll need more tweaking and troubleshooting, so let me know if anything doesn’t look quite right on your browser!

I might play with the color scheme a little bit… looks a bit more purple-ish than the blue-ish I was shooting for. But the blue seemed a little dull… what do you think? Shoot me an email — abell@abellsmith.com.
